On Friday August 10th, Take Five Trading hosted the first annual ‘Take Five Downs’ at Hastings Race Track during Vancouver’s lifestyle apparel trade show, KNOW?SHOW. We hosted the event as a way of saying thank you to our long time, out of town accounts for both their business, and friendship, over the years. We couldn’t have asked for a better night. Great weather, food, drinks, and of course, company. A very hesitant ‘Congratulations’, goes out to Take Five’s newest team members, Kim and AJ, who must have thought this was a ‘Welcome to the team’ party for them, as they were among the top winners of the night. The Champion of the night though, was Rebecca from TUB in Winnipeg. Walking away with enough winnings to ‘buy a new pair of shoes’……(Let’s just say a very nice pair of shoes). Congratulations Rebecca! After the races, our posse made our way to Fortune Sound Club, for the Official KNOW?SHOW Party, Concrete Skateboard mag’s 2012 Photo Annual release party and the Fos Art Show….oh yeah, and to party! A few accounts made it though the entire night, and we salute you. Well Done! Thank you’s go out to everyone who attended; Livestock, Foosh, Groupseven, Momentum, TUB, Outtabounds, Coda, and The Bakery. We’ll see you at the track next year!
August 9th, 2012 – The Hundreds X Ben Tour capsule collection official launch party was held at Livestock (Gastown) during Vancouver’s KNOW?SHOW trade show. The Hundreds brand ambassador, DJ Flipout, turned the party out with an all 45″ dj set of funk and golden age Hip-Hop. A big shout out to Big Surf Beer for sponsoring the event! For the first full-length Odd Future project since Channel Orange, Domo Genesis, the crew’s resident sleepy-eyed stoner, has teamed up with the Alchemist, the veteran rap producer who has become something of a psych-rap visionary in recent years. Over the last couple of years, Domo has vastly improved as a rapper, and Alchemist is quietly building an argument that he’s one of rap’s all-time great producers, so I’ve been waiting for this one. We’ve already heard the great Earl Sweatshirt/Vince Staples/Action Bronson collab “Elimination Chamber,” and the rest of the tape also has appearances from Freddie Gibbs, Prodigy, Smoke DZA, Spaceghostpurrp, and Tyler, The Creator. Hear it below.
