Brook Bobbins was a recent esteemed guest of the exclusive Alife Courtyard Sessions involving Fools Gold, Danny Brown and ASAP. The event, much like many past Courtyard Sessions was an electrifying experience thanks to the small, tightly-knit space and of course the stage presence of some big emerging acts. ALIFE together with the New York Art Department’s new project welcomes furniture and design company Uhuru on board as they attempt to reconceptualize the notion of graffiti and art onto attainable, private property. Several artist collaborators are further contributing to the mix in the form of New York personalities and institutions; Earsnot, KR, Semen Sperms and bar Max Fish as well as artist Jim Joe. This is not the cold customization of Koons making BMWs and Murakami making Louis Vuitton bags, where “marketing art” merges with culture. This is taking something that makes the public private (graffiti) and making it into an object that can be privately owned. It’s a morsel of design and crime: if design is the total control of your environment to make aesthetic decisions and refine your visual environment, crime is the anarchy that fucks that all up.

Today we present the official trailer for ‘Beats Rhymes & Life The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest’. Directed by Michael Rappaport, the movie releases in theaters on July 8th, 2011.

Alife presents their new range of Summer 2011 sneakers. The brand has worked hard on their footwear offering these last couple of years, adapting to the new market needs. The outcome is a more refined and clean collection of styles, that span over both the athletic and more fashionable markets. The brand continues to be innovative in terms of materials, fusing new and old with interesting looks as a result.

The third volume of ALIFE’s’Hidden Champion Magazine seasonal printed collaboration is now available. Titled ALIFE SAVES the Japanese magazine focuses on Alife, its founders, people around them, the recent Art Machine project and showcases the Spring Summer 2011 Sportswear and Footwear collections.

A limited-run ALIFE SAVES T-shirt is available for purchase at the Alife Vancouver and New York stores, and on the Upset for $35.00.

Back in October 2010, ALIFE and HIDDEN CHAMPION produced a special book dedicated to the influential New York brand. The two come together once again for Volume 3 “ALIFE SAVES”, which focuses on ALIFE’s 2010 spring/summer collection including sneakers and apparel. The book releases with a free set of stickers on April 28, 2011 via select retailers, including ALIFE Tokyo. In addition, tees and posters were made for the occasion.
